First Triathlon: Club La Santa mini triathlon - Aberdeen Dolphins swim camp 1994 I didn't take up triathlon until I was 26 in 2004

Favorite distance: The Ironman, it’s my focus event - I first heard of the Ironman at the swim camp above when I was 14 and said to myself one day I want just to finish one.

Career highlight: Winning Ironman UK as a pro rookie in 2007 in a course record time although I ‘m just as proud of my last two 2nd place finishes at ironman Australia & Ironman Western Australia.

Race wheels: TT58’s & Disc

Nickname: Scotty

Favorite race: Ironman Western Australia - Bussleton - It just had a fantastic atmosphere, a beautiful location, a picturesque jetty & fantastic community spirit.

Favorite place to train: Perth, Australia or Kelowna, Canada, they both offer wonderful environment's with good weather, great training partners & elite facility centre support.

What I dread about race day: The thought of GI troubles, bike mechanicals or stomach upset

What I always wanted to be when I grew up: a professional footballer - Aberdeen AFC would a good team way back then

If I was a cartoon character I would be: The Duracel bunny

My hero is: Muhammad Ali & Steve Ovette

Favorite food: Pizza & Ice cream - It doesn't get better than that

Strangest thing I've ever eaten: White asparagus - it was surprisingly ok

If I won the lottery: have a big party, buy property in all my favorite training locations, go in an around world cruise, chill out have & take up scuba diving.

Funniest incident in my life: My swim trunks split as I demonstrated a race dive to the junior swim squad at COAST (City of Aberdeen Swim Team) about 10 years ago - a lot of kids still remember

Favorite Movie: The usual Suspects, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Predator, life of Brian

My next vacation will be: don’t know I haven’t had one in while – probably a ski trip to some the ski centre’s I’ve been cycling to near Kelowna, BC.

Additional thoughts or notes: Gray skies are just clouds passing over...
