Super-Light, Alloy Clincher Wheels - Elan Wheel System
Rolf Prima’s much anticipated Elan wheel system is officially in production and shipping to bike dealers. Weighing 1270 grams / set, the Elan is the lightest 700c clincher wheel in the ‘lightweight / climbing’ category and lighter than most carbon tubular wheels. The wheelset uses 20, stainless steel, butted spokes in the front wheel and 24 in the rear.
“Our Paired Spoke Design Technology is the defining design element which enables us to build wheels with lighter rims and fewer spokes compared with traditional wheels,” says inventor, Rolf Dietrich . “With traditional wheel design, you will quickly realize absolute minimums for rim weight and spoke count.”
