Great showing for Rolf Prima at IronMan Canada - Heather Wurtele takes 2nd
Kicking off with a record attendance of 2,780 athletes this past weekend, Rolf Prima sponsored athletes, Heather Wurtele, Trevor Wurtele and Scott Neyedli lined up against strong competitors from all over the globe at the 28th annual IronMan Canada.
On the women's side Heather was fourth out of the water, putting her about four-minutes behind the leader. Making her way through the first transition, Heather knew she needed to make up time on the bike. Riding her TT58's, Heather battled the wet and windy conditions to set a fast pace. Coming in with the fastest bike time of the day moved Heather into contention for the podium. Pushing on through the run, Heather was quickly closing in on the leader, Meredith Kessler. With about 10km to go, Kessler pulled away to take the win with Heather taking a strong second place finish for the day.
Scott Neyedli brought home a sixth place finish on the men's side after a strong start in the swim. Fourth out of the water, Neyedli quickly moved to the bike and worked hard to hold his position. A questionable four minute penalty for drafting cost him precious time going into the run. Working to make up the lost time, Neyedli ran himself back into the top ten and took a sixth place finish. Finishing out a strong top 15 for Rolf Prima, Trevor Wurtele came in 12th.
