news – Tristan Schouten takes 5th in Boulder

Tristan Schouten takes 5th at Victory Circle Grahpix Boulder Cup 2011

Race report from Tristan...

Everything went smooth, I got into Boulder about 11am. Set up my bike and got over to the race. I warmed up really well, I had done about a 3 hour ride on Saturday with lots of efforts to simulate a race since I always race better on day 2. It worked. I had no trouble making the front group and even found myself covering some moves and also making some moves of my own 1/2 way through the race. It's the first time I have led a race of caliber and the confidence boost will really help me knowing I belong at the front. I probably paid a little bit in the last 2 laps for that effort at the front but it was worth it. I found myself fighting with Todd Wells through the last 1/2 lap for the top 5 and was able to outsprint him for it and finsihed about 10 seconds down on the winners. I am really excited about this result as I worked hard the last 3 weeks and it paid off with a top result.

I wanted to thank you all for your support. I wouldn't have been able to get this result without Erik's financial support and without top of the line Blue bikes and Rolf Prima Wheels. The new Lazer helmets that just showed up looked awesome.
