hubset: All Tandem wheel systems orbit around a proprietary hub designed and manufactured in the USA. Black, CNC machined hub shells with oversized axles provide high strength, stiffness and light weight. Optimized flange contours provide full spoke elbow support, increasing spoke life. All hubs feature bearing preload adjustment on both front and rear hubs and spec precision cartridge bearings with low drag supplementary contact seals. All Tandem rear hubs are compatible with drum or disc brake with use of thread-on adapter sold separately. Only Tandem-Disc model front hubs will accept an ISO 6-bolt rotor and must be used with a disc brake approved fork. Available in 145mm dropout spacing only.
freehub mechanism: CNC machined steel freehub body has 3 sprung steel pawls for a bomb-proof torque transfer system. Pawls are driven by 3 hardened steel leaf springs. The system is strong, simple and dependable.
rims: Both Tandem wheel models feature a 31mm tall single cavity rim section with optimized wall thicknesses to handle the increased lateral and tortional demands of tandem riders. Brake sidewalls are CNC-machined for smooth, consistent braking performance. This combination of aerodynamic performance and minimal rotating weight makes Rolf Prima Tandem wheels the lightest, fastest low spoke count tandem wheels available.
spoke & nipple: Custom bladed, 14 gauge spokes and internal alloy nipples with nylon inserts contribute to clean aerodynamic performance and superior, long-term durability. Patented, Jacketed Nipple Design™ and Dish Reducing design™ reduce spoke bending loads and rear wheel dish to increase spoke fatigue life.
extras: Rolf Prima Tandem wheel systems include custom reinforced rim tape and quick release skewers.
